9/18/2023 0 Comments After effects add trim pathWhen I do projects like this 80% of my time is budgeted for the work in Illustrator and 20% of the time for the animation. If there are any filled shapes in your drawing they should be on a separate Illustrator layer, you do not have to convert them to shape layers in AE because Trim Paths make fills behave badly. You could also add Trim Paths to each group and have more than one reveal happening on a single shape layer. Here's a simple example showing the workflow and the result of Trim Paths at the bottom of the shape layer stack. If the drawing is properly set up in Illustrator getting the drawing to draw on the screen should only take you a few minutes. In this After Effects tutorial, well place some text, trace over it using the Pen Tool, adjust the path, use a simple Trim Path effect and animate it to. There is no script required, just some careful planning. Separating the drawing into sections will allow you to overlap the animation and make the reveal more interesting. If one of the paths is drawing on in the wrong direction you can select the path in the timeline by spinning down the Shape, select the vertex where you want the stroke to start and use the menu Layer>Mask and Shape Path>Set First Vertex to change the starting point. If one of the shapes is coming on in the wrong order just move it up or down to change the order. Trim paths will start at the top of the top Group and work down. Spin down the options and change Trim Multiple Shapes to Individually, set a keyframe for end at zero, move down the timeline and set a second keyframe for end at 100%. This should put Trim Paths 1 at the bottom of the stack. Make sure none of the shapes or groups are selected and add Trim Paths. You can reveal the structure by selecting the layer and pressing the U key twice. After the shape layers are created you will probably have groups and inside those groups, there will be shapes. Do this one at a time because there are so many lines. In This Video Tutorial, We learn, How to create amazing logo animations with trim paths in After Effects, Trim Path Logo Animation Tutorial. Open up that comp and select each layer in the composition and use Layer menu to find Layer>Create>Shapes from Vector Layer. AE will create a composition in the Project Panel. Then I would import as a comp retaining layer sizes. Then I would put each of these groups on a separate layer in Illustrator. One group for the first room, one for the second room, one for the third and so on. Start in Illustrator by arranging the paths in the drawing into sections. If all of the paths you created in Illustrator have simple strokes then the job is easy.
